However, it takes some time for your body to heal, recover, and for your new implants to “drop” into place.
In this blog post, we want to talk about what you can expect to happen after your breast augmentation and how you can tell if your implants are dropping into place. We’ll also talk about some of the factors that go into determining how long it takes for that to happen.
If you’re unhappy with how your breasts look and want to experience an incredible boost in confidence, then call Dr. Meger today at (602) 957-6000. We are incredibly proud of the life-changing and natural-looking results that our patients get from working with Dr. Meger. fact, you can take a look at some of our actual patients’ results in our gallery of Before-an-After pictures.
What Is “Dropping” for Breast Augmentation
Phoenix women who get breast augmentation will have to wait 4 to 6 weeks (sometimes up to 6 months) for their new implants to settle and “drop” into place. So what does that mean?
New breast implants typically are very hard, feel “tight,” and sit high on the chest. This is because the muscles and skin on your chest aren’t used to the implants. But over time, as the tissues expand, the implant will drop into place and soften. This is sometimes referred to as “drop and fluff.”
How Fast Will My Implants Drop?
After the breast augmentation, Phoenix patients often ask us how long it will take the implants to drop. This is another one of those questions that is very difficult for us to answer because so many different factors are unique to you. Here are some of the things that can impact how quickly your breast implants drop into place.
- Implant placement – If your implants are under the chest muscles (submuscular), it will take longer to settle because the muscles need time to relax.
- Implant size – If you had small breasts before your procedure and got moderately larger implants, it could take longer for your implants to drop because your skin and muscles may be pulled tight.
Speed Up Implant Dropping After Breast Augmentation
Patients with new breast implants are generally excited to them to “drop” and settle in their perfect position, and we don’t blame them. It is, however, a waiting game and not much can be done to “Speed up” this process. You will go home with a compressive garment to push your new implants down toward your feet. Dr. Meger will assess your progress on your multiple post surgery visits and tailor your garment schedule to your individual needs.
Dr. Meger has dedicated his life to helping all of his patients look as good on the outside as they feel on the inside.
