Breast augmentation is still one of the most popular procedure for plastic surgery with over 300,000 women undergoing the operation. Over the last few decades, the technology and techniques for breast augmentation have improved by leaps and bounds. But there is still a great deal of misinformation out there, and many of our patients experience some confusion when it comes to breast augmentation.

1. Silicone vs. Saline
The first breast implant devices from the 60s were silicone. Since then, there have been continuous improvements giving patients more options than ever for their breast augmentation. But with the addition of “gummy bear” silicone implants, patients have more options than ever for their breast augmentation. Scottsdale patient often choose the new gel “gummy” implants because of their natural feel and appearance. But saline implants are still a great option for patients who want a smaller scar.
2. Surgical incision
One of the other major decisions that you’ll have to think about is what type of incision you want. Obviously, this isn’t something that you have to decide on your own. Dr. Meger will give you all of the details you need to make a confident and 100% informed decision. But you do have several incision styles to consider that will determine where your scar is located and what it looks like.
3. Implant size
By far the most difficult decision for our patients is the size of the implant. Dr. Meger specializes in helping women choose a size that fits with their anatomy and that looks natural. Most women have an “ideal” size and shape of breast that they want to achieve. When you visit Dr. Meger for your consultations, he will use a sizing bra that will let you see and feel the different sizes of implants.
4. Surgeon selection
The other incredibly important choice you’ll have to make is which surgeon you want to perform your breast augmentation. Scottsdale women have been rushing to work with Dr. Meger because of the stunning, natural-looking results that he consistently delivers.
