Breast Reduction Surgery

Are overly developed breasts giving you a hard time? You’re not alone. Massive breasts can get you complaining about neck and shoulder pains time and again. Further, you might also suffer skin irritation and posture problem.

What if I told you there’s a relief for all these? Hear this out – breast reduction can get you off this hook. During this procedure, a certified plastic surgeon reduces breast size by removing excess fat, skin, and tissue. And it doesn’t end there – the surgeon will give your breasts the shape you desire.

Who Can Go for Breast Reduction?

Any women experiencing back pain, neck pain, slumped posture, limited mobility because they have large, heavy breasts, are terrific candidates for breast reduction. Sadly, most cases of large breasts cannot be corrected by diet or routine exercises. Watch out for the following additional symptoms:

  • Rashes and skin irritation beneath the bra
  • Diet and routine exercising not helping
  • Breasts not proportionate to the frame of the body
  • Bra strap grooves on your shoulders
  • Breasts size limiting your engagements on various activities.
  • Poor posture

Any Expectations?

Breast reduction is a 3 to 4-hour procedure, and the surgeon will perform it in an outpatient center. After administering anesthesia, the surgeon proceeds to make single or multiple incisions in the breasts.

The procedure, at times, involves three incisions. The first incision around the breast areola, second from the areola to crease to make a keyhole shape, and the third horizontal one along the crease – the skin beneath the breast.

Removal of excess fat, tissue, and skin then follows. At times the surgeon can remove the fats by liposuction. Liposuction can serve as an alternative to breast reduction when the breasts primarily consist of fatty tissues.

Nipples are often attached to nerves for feelings. However, for relatively bigger breasts, nipples and areolas may not be appropriately positioned. Hence, surgeons close the incisions by adhesives, surgical tapes, and sutures.

Yay – You Did It!

Breast reduction can be a life-changer. Smaller breasts will make daily activities much simpler. In the first few weeks of recovery, patients should wear comfortable bras and avoid strenuous activities. Patients should also remember to maintain a healthy weight.
